Spray Tanning Precare and Aftercare

Pre care

Spray Tanning

The most important thing to prepare for a spray tan is to exfoliate thoroughly 24 hours beforehand paying particular attention to knees, elbows, heels and feet. This will remove dry skin and provide a new, smooth surface for your tan. Exfoliating helps to provide an even coverage and will lengthen the duration of the tan. You must always moisturise the day BEFORE your tan is to be applied, NEVER on the day.

Wax or shave and moisturise the day before your application NOT ON THE DAY.

Remove all make-up, perfume, moisturiser and deodorant before your treatment.

Remove contact lenses and all jewellery.

I recommend that you wear loose dark clothing after your treatment. My solution washes out of natural material very easily but can stain nylon and lycra. What you wear during your spray tan appointment is entirely your choice, many clients wear a bikini or dark coloured underwear but if you feel more comfortable in shorts and a vest top feel free to wear what suits you. I can provide you with disposable underwear if you require.

After care

Spray Tanning

You must leave your tan for a minimum of 8 hours or preferably overnight if possible before showering. This will allow your tan to fully develop.

Use an oil free shower or bath cream.

Avoid wearing socks, shoes or boots immediately after your treatment as these can leave marks in your tan.

Avoid swimming, showering and exercise for at least 8 hours after your treatment.

Do not sit on light coloured fabrics until you have showered as the guide colour may rub off and cause discolouration.

Remember when you shower after the 8 hours you will see some guide colour wash off but don’t worry this is normal you will still be left with a beautiful looking tan.

Maintaining your tan

Try to moisturise twice a day using an oil-free moisturiser.

Pat your skin dry after a bath or shower or better still leave your skin to dry naturally.

Avoid long hot baths and showers as these will slowly fade your sunkissed tan.

Chlorine from swimming pools and sea water can reduce your tan.
